Welcome
Welcome to the website documenting the Boraman family history. The website attempts to record all known Boraman individuals and to document the pedigree of each family. If this is your first time on the website, I would recommend reading the Help to get some ideas on how to proceed and how to use the facilities provided.
The primary origin of Boraman individuals appears to be England, with the Australian, New Zealand and Canadian branches having been as a result of emigration from England. There are several Boramans identified in the USA, but to date no contact has been made with any living individual and nothing has been found to suggest from where they immigrated.
If you have any new information you would like added or can suggest any changes or improvements to the website please contact me.

Interesting People
| Samuel Boraman (8 Dec 1815) | Samuel Boraman's decison to emigrate to Australia in 1858 started the Australian and New Zealand branch of the family. |
| Lilian Margaret Boraman (Jul 1903) | Lilian Boraman designed lingerie for, amongst others, the late Queen Mother. Funnily, no photos seem to exist.... |
| Currer Coad | The person with the wierdest name - Boraman doesn't seem so bad after that. |
| William Boraman (28 Mar 1829) | William Boraman was convicted of stealing 1lb of butter from his master, and sentenced, at the Old Bailey no less, to one month in prison. What a rascal! |
| John Boraman (1868) | In 1901 John attempted to join a ship bound for the Boer War in a home made khaki uniform but was turned away as he didn't have enough money in his pocket to get there. The local townsfolk obviously thought this was funny as they proceeded to test his ability to withstand swords by inserting long hatpins into him! Eventually the local fire brigade had to turn their hose on the crowd and the police sergeant rescued John and escorted him home. |
| Jake Boraman (Apr 1865) | Jake Boraman was identified as a Black American in the 1900 US Census, working as a farmer and living in Friendship Township in South Carolina with his family. |

Research Tasks
If you would like to take on the investigation of any of these outstanding tasks, or have any new tasks to add, please email me.
| Task no. | Title | Description | Assigned to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | Mary Ann Boraman | Born 1846 in Kensington - who are the parents? Believed to have died in 1847? | Dennis |
| 13 | Arthur Edward Boraman | Born 1874 to Mary Ann , believed to be illegitimate. Would need to obtain the birth certificate to see what it says in relation to the father. | Dennis |
| 24 | Mary Ann Pratt | Conflicting views of birth date. 1861 census implies 1829, death certificate implies 1827. Identified as Minor on the marriage certificate in 1845. Need to find baptism record? Check 1841 and 1851 census? | Dennis |
| 25 | Robert Boraman Woodward | Why did the Rev Robert Woodward have Boraman as his middle name? Even more peculiar, why did he go as far as to pass it down to his daughters Mary Susannah and Elizabeth Annie as a middle name? | Dennis |
| 26 | Find which William this is | William was mentioned in 1800 as being one of the farm tenants of Robert Vyner and he farmed 15 acres, 2 roods and 25 perches and paid a rent of £18 per year. 1851 census showed William Burman as having 17 acres and nil employed men. No William n Belchford currently identified as being old enough to rent land in 1800 so perhaps it is a William who was born somewhere else in Lincolnshire | Dennis |
