Dog Collars

It’s not reliable to choose your dog’s size from breed examples as there are so many different types of breeds and cross-breeds. Even members of the same breed can vary in size, so you must MEASURE YOUR PET INDIVIDUALLY to find out their size. Go grab a tape measure now!

Measure around the circumference of your pet’s neck.

Collars sold on this website are broken down into uniform sizes to make it easier to select the one you need. The collar should not be fastened too tightly - you should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and the neck when it is fastened. If your pet’s measurements fall in between two sizes, it's recommended you order the next larger size up.

How do I choose a collar for my pet, do I just pick the prettiest colour?

Yep, personal preference for which design to choose are entirely down to you and your dog! However, some materials are suitable for different purposes which may be worth bearing in mind. Leather looks great, is tough and contains natural oils which make it water-repellent, but if your pet is a constant chewer or enjoys a lot of swimming, this could cause the leather to crack and become damaged (nylon could be a better choice here). Nylon is one of the strongest man-made fibres, so collars & leads made from this are completely waterproof and very difficult to chew through, as well as being colourful!

Some collars are designed for special occasions and have delicate decorations or charms on so they aren’t intended to be used in rough activity or to tie your dog out with. If your dog is a big chewer or likes rough-and-tumble, these sorts of collars may not be appropriate for everyday use. It’s best to use your common sense when choosing which collar to use with which activity for your dog - you wouldn't go hiking wearing a crystal charm bracelet, so neither should your dog!
